AN ANTIQUE MAP OF SOUTHEAST ENGLAND, "Regni Angliæ," 17TH/18TH CENTURY, hand colored copper plate engraving on paper, a page fragment from a larger atlas, hand numbered 86 L/R, with theatrical curtain form title cartouche U/L weighted by a pearl crowned haired Amphitrite bearing a triton and Neptune with shell encrusted locks bearing an anchor; he leans on a vessel signed by the plate preparer, plate: 24 1/4" x 19 1/2". Provenance: Property from a Corporate Art Collection.
Condition
Backed, some creases and lacerations at painted areas mostly, unstable coloring, some toned areas within seas, but overall in good condition, wear commensurate with age. Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
