A PRE COLUMBIAN STYLE TERRACOTTA FIGURAL CEREMONIAL JAR OR URN, COLUMBIA, ATTRIBUTED TO THE TAIRONA CULTURE (AD 900-1550), incised terracotta in the form of a seated male shaman figure with serpent crested headdress above an entranced face with open eyes, centering a pedant hung headband, the face with profuse indigenous dotted pattern throughout, separated by cheek bands, the arms and legs with diamond and dot boa constrictor-like repeating pattern ending in serpent heads for hands and feet, the male figure sits atop a dual jaguar form four legged throne, he wears a harvesting basket at his back, carved with repeating triangle and slash incised motifs within registers, centering a storage bowl, raised on a total of six legs.

Apparent primitive repairs, some losses and obscuring of details or possible slip paint, traces of gilt flecks embedded within clay surfaces mostly at base, surface with mud like residue, a hole with losses, but overall in fair to good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
