A FRENCH ASSEMBLED THREE PIECE CLOCK GARNITURE, JAPY FRÈRES CLOCKWORKS, RETAILED BY AUGUST LEMAIRE, SCULPTURE BY ETIENNE HENRI DUMAIGE, CIRCA 1867, the sculpture, "Musicien tambourin et danse femme," signed in bronze at base, "Dumaige," on a sober rouge griotte marble sarcophagus form case centering a beveled glass and bronze bezel, opening to reveal the marble case incorporated as the dial with applied Gothic style Roman numerals enclosing gilt metal hands and twin key escapements, verso brass clockworks stamped pastille, "Japy Freres & Cie Gnd Med. D'honneur," retailer mark, "A. Lemaire, Paris, R.V. du Temple 121," numbered 188, flanked on exterior with gilt budding finial and laurel wreath cast handles (lacking right handle), height: 24", width: 12 1/2", depth: 7 3/4"; together with an associated pair of Art Nouveau parcel gilt, green and rouge patinated two handled metal vases with relief whiplash tendrils and flower blooms, raised on square form rouge griotte marble pedestal bases centering applied gilt metal rosettes and raised on gilt metal foliate scrolled feet, height: 14 1/4". Note: Etienne Henri Dumaige (French 1830-1880) a respected and accomplished sculpture known for his naturalistic figural representation in the Neo-Classical revival style that was so prevalent in the second-half of 19th century France.

Condition

The clock and pair of vases are a "marriage." The clock case is lacking the right side bronze handle. Dial numerals not original, Dumaige bronze sculpture loose on marble clock case, vases lacking upper tiered candelabra sections and have loose feet, oxidized spots on gilt metal, mostly in good to very good condition with mild expected wear and light surface buildup.
