A FIFTY-SEVEN PIECE REED & BARTON STERLING SILVER FLATWARE SERVICE, SPANISH BAROQUE PATTERN, MARKED, LATE 20TH CENTURY, modeled in traditional Spanish Baroque pattern with verso mold marked "Reed & Barton STERLING," comprising twelve dinner forks, twelve salad forks, twelve hollowware dinner dinner knives, twelve tea/dessert spoons, three serving spoons, one serving fork, one cream sauce ladle, one hollowware cake slice server, one hollowware butter knife, one sugar shell spoon, one small three tined serving fork, longest: 10?, shortest: 6," total approximate weight: 69.27083 troy ounces - excluding hollowwares. Including a Marshall Fields & Co mahogany tarnish prevention cloth lined storage chest. Note: Reed & Barton first introduced the "Spanish Baroque" pattern in 1965. The company operated from 1824 until 2015, when it was purchased by The Lenox Company at a bankruptcy auction. For nearly 200 years the company was privately owned by the Henry Reed family and manufactured sterling silver, plated and Britannia metal in the Taunton, Massachusetts factory. During this time the company grew through changing needs of customers, mergers and purchases of other companies resulting in expansion into crystal stemwares, porcelain, modern stainless steel flatware and production of handmade wood chests, pen cases and humidors. The White House has Reed & Barton items in use and in 1996 for the Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, the company was awarded the design and production of the gold, silver and bronze medals.
