A GEORGE III MAHOGANY NIGHT STAND OR POT CUPBOARD, MID 18TH CENTURY, the solid three quarter gallery with two opposing kidney form handholds above a tambour door concealing a deep storage compartment, a single bail handle over the dramatically shaped apron takes the traditional form of a forward sliding base opening to reveal a solid fitted pull out surface and shallow tray drawer storage, raised on square section legs. Structurally sound and in good condition. General wear, such as scuffs, scratches and age cracks throughout, as well as repairs and restorations expected for the age of the piece. It is probable that, although in the style of the period, the hardware has been replaced. Although listed as a pot cupboard, the area that would have held the pot has been recently repurposed into a shallow tray drawer as described.
