Italian Carved Walnut Cassone, with applied molded edge lid, paneled front with carved central medallion and flanked by female figurehead form carvings, early iron strap hinges and iron lock (no key), paneled sides with iron drop bail handles, intricate carved apron, set on paw form feet, 24 3/4" high, 60 3/4" x 24 1/2". Surface wear consistent with age, shrinkage separation to apron corners, minor worm damage.
