Baga Elek, an anthropomorphic wood carving that combines elements and characteristics of a bird, a crocodile and a human; linear incisions and spattering of paint are meant to suggest stone, displayed for nourishing, to combat sorcery and during funeral rites, Guinea, 24 3/4" tall, 32" long x 5 1/2". Good condition. Provenance: From the Estate of Thomas Cavanaugh of Maine and Florida.
