Noah Weiss (1842-1907) worked in Northampton as a hotelier and artist. Though he never sold any of his creations, his memory and works live on through collectors and word of mouth from those in Northampton who remember the hotel and the carvings. Weiss, who moved to Northampton in 1895, ran the Allen House Hotel at 21st and Main streets. He exhibited his works of animals, birds and subjects based on biblical and historic themes at his Mount Vernon Inn and in an adjoining building he constructed for his works, which he called Curio Hall.
