Footnote:
Lilli Ann was a San Francisco company founded in 1933 by Adolph Schuman bearing his wife’s name. The company became known for their beautiful, elaborately designed suits and coats.
After World War II, Schuman went to Paris and bought fabric from small struggling textile companies and was credited with helping to save many of them from financial ruin. For this, Schuman was awarded medals from both France and Italy, and the Lili Ann customer got apparel made of high quality hand-loomed fabric. The collection of Lili Ann clothing is most likely from the 1950s and is beautifully tailored and lined with great attention to detail.
