Description
Five-hundred dollar ten-year eight percent bond, Monticello Bank, issued July 16, 1863, printed by James T. Patterson, a Scottish dentist from Georgia who set up a print shop in Richmond to avoid the draft. Neoclassical vignette featuring two women, one with laurel crown, a large urn, and in the background what looks like Federal style mansion. Signed and dated.Frame, approx. 18" x 14 1/4". Bond, approx 11 1/2" x 8".
