Description
Peanuts: Charles M. Schulz: Santa Rosa Hockey Original Illustration. (United Feature Syndicate, c.1958). Charles Schulz hand drawing of Snoopy, commissioned for an event in Santa Rosa, California, where Schulz made his home and in 1969, and opened the Redwood Empire Ice Arena. Snoopy here wears a winter hat and carries a hockey stick over his shoulder with a sign bearing applied text that reads, "Santa Rosa / Junior Hockey / Club". A 1958 copyright tag appears at bottom, indicating the drawing may have appeared in one of the earlier "Peanuts" books. Drawing is matted atop a copy of Snoopy holding a hockey stick with a large label, "Santa Rosa / Senior / Olympics". Presented with an original signature card.Top image measures: 4.75 x 3.75 inches, rendered in graphite & pen and ink with Letterset applied to hand cut paper in three rows (Santa Rosa), (Junior Hockey) and (Club) formally pasted down (no longer flat) c.1958 UFS (United Feature Syndicate) also pasted down. Middle image measures: 6 x 5 inches, print on heavy stock paper. Bottom image measures: 1.25 x 3.5 inches. Hand-Signed Charles M. Schulz (ink on heavy stock paper) Overall framed dimensions measure 19.5 x 11.5 inches. Includes original Signature card. Signature card measures approx. 1.25 x 3.5 inches. Frame is sold in as-is condition.
