Description
Hinged Box. 19th/20th century signed French .800 silver hinged box with large bezel set oval coral cabochon with applied pear-shaped emerald and wonderful inscription reading, "What is Life Without Passion". Ribbed detailing to lid and onyx closure with gold mounted emerald cabochon terminals. Stamped to interior of case with a domestic silver hallmark of a crab representing .800 silver (Paris, 1838-1962), and an unidentified maker's mark of "PO" in a lozenge form frame. Total approx. weight is 2.94 troy oz (gross). From an Irvington, NY estate. Dimensions: box measures approx. 2.83" w x 2.32" d x 1" h; coral cabochon measures approx. 1.45" w x 1.03" d; pear-shaped emerald measures approx. 6.5mm x 4.5mm.

Good, with light surface scratches and minor dings/dents.
