Description
A Qing mandarin’s hat finial has been repurposed as a bell. The finial has an amber glass bead with bubbles in the glass. The bell is enameled with mottled light blue background. The final bead is mounted in a brass mount. There is a copper flower at the top to hold the bead in place. The bell has a turquoise Peking glass clapper. The word CHINA is stamped on the bell’s underside near the where the clapper is mounted. MEASUREMENTS 3 ½” (8.9 cm) tall x 2 ½” (6.4 cm) diameter. Weighs 4.0 oz (114 g) CONDITION There are no cracks, or chips. The amber bead has wear scratches. The bell enamel is in good shape, with just a few areas of wear. The metal is well-tarnished and has a nice patina.
