Entitled Les Mille & Un Jour. Contes Persians, (A Thousand and One Days of Persian Tales), translated into French by Francois Petis de la Croix, printed in Amsterdam by Chez Pierre De Coup, five 32mo brown calf bindings with vol. 1 dated 1711, 2 & 3 1712 & 4 & 5 1713, vol. 1 has 304pp; 2 has 308pp; 3 has 328pp; 4 has 364pp; and 5 has 332pp with six pages at rear listing other publication. All with frontis engravings, marbled pate downs and end papers. This book is collection of tales based on the model of One Thousand and One Nights. Croix said it was translated a Persian compilation titled Hazar u yek ruz, which he acquired in Isfahan in 1675, but many scholars doubt this claim and believe that Croix made much of the story's up himself, and others are from Turkish sources. Condition minor wear to leather and slight scattered foxing, Very Good.
