Colton tag verso with Colton's inventory number. The frame is a remake of an original Colton frame style. Mary-Russell Ferrell Colton is known for using vibrant, unusual color values. She was trained at the Philadelphia School of Design and opened a studio after graduation. After her marriage the family moved to Flagstaff, Arizona and was one of the principal founders of the Museum of Northern Arizona and served as its art curator for 20 years.
