Description
This is an amazing piece of late 19th century advertising for Pastime Plug Tobacco, celebrating champions of the time, and of course, drawing comparisons to their own "champion" tobacco. Everyone from the Harvard rowing team record of 1887, to W.A. Howe who broke the 1 mile bicycle run in 1886, to the Detroit Wolverines of the National Base Ball League who defeated the St. Louise browns in the world series in 1887, this Professionally framed and matted advertisement shows all the champions depicted in bright color. There is a 3" repair to the left of the race horse, but nothing to distract from this great imagery. Marked "Copyright 1886 & Published by Hoot & Tinker Tribute Building N.Y". Condition: (8.0). Dimensions: Frame: 30" x 38 - 1/4".
