Sean Scully was born in Dublin and grew up in South London, where her family settled in 1949.1 She studied at Croydon College of Art and the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. He received a scholarship to study at Harvard University in the early 1970s and has since settled in New York.Scully was nominated for the Turner Prize in 1989 and 1993.
