Born in Krivoklat, Czechoslovakia, Bohumil Stepan (1913-1985) studied fine art and advertising in Prague and was a celebrated painter, graphic artist, illustrator and photographer. In the 1950s he created propaganda and cartoons and over time collage became his primary visual presentation. His drawings, cartoons, book and magazine illustrations, film posters and erotic humor were widely published. In 1969 he moved to Munich where he continued his career.
