Central Asian Lakai Ilgich Embroidery, 19th century. Used as mirror bag cover as part of the wedding ceremony, thereafter hung in the home as a talisman. Silk on red wool, mounted. Provenance: Estate of Aviva and Jack Robinson, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Size: 18'' x 18.5'', 46 x 47 cm (textile ); 22'' x 22'', 56 x 56 cm (mount).
