"State Bird of Alabama.During the Civil War Alabama became known as the "Yellow Hammer State" after a company of young Cavalry from Huntsville wore uniforms adorned with fine yellow cloth.
Provenance: Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences, sold by Christie's September 14-15, 1987. Comparable: Skinner, 2009 - $8,888; Arader, 2014 - $8,540.
