ACOMA POLYCHROME POT WITH MIMBRES (FISH) DESIGN, by SARAH GARCIA, ca. 1960s (b. 1928) Condition: Roughly repaired all over but complete Mark: "Sarah G. / Acoma, N.M." Description: Large olla (storage pot) with mimbres (fish) design, flower medallions, and a red rim. The black and white border designs are classic Acoma, with fine-line filling in the upper section. Note: She learned potting from her Laguna grandmother, This may seem like a rather "touristy" pot because it has a fish design, flowers, white base, red rim instead of black, and no red paint inside the rim. However, the famous Marie Chino did a plate in 1971 that had an almost identical design. Purchased at a now-closed shop on the Taos Chapel Plaza. 6.5"h x 7.5"d.
