Description
A nice West African mask, Guro culture, Ivory Coast. The well-carved mask is in the form of a man with pursed lips, large nose and closed eyes. The hair is cut short with a headdress consisting of a bird’s head with two animal ears then continuing down the sides of the face with triangular decoration. 18 ½ x 8 ¾ in (46.9 x 22.3 cm). Some areas darkened for contrast and showing signs age. Ex New York private collection.
