Description

Best known as the manager of the championship New York Yankees of the 1950s and later the expansion New York Mets, Casey Stengel was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1966. During the 1955 New York Yankees tour of Japan, Stengel was given this geisha wig and carrying case with fans as a gift. Stengel is pictured here in a newspaper article wearing the wig and displaying other souvenirs. This is a one of a kind and unique piece of Stengel / Yankee memorabilia.
