Description
A REPUBLIC OF TEXAS TREASURY WARRANT, DUPLICATE, LOST IN THE BATTLE OF SAN JACINTO, ASA BRIGHAM, FIRST TREASURER OF THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS, SIGNED, VELASCO, JULY 16, 1836, engraving and hand inscribed ink on paper, no. 176, filled out to "The Secretary of the Treasury," for payment to John Belden, volunteer assigned to Captain Amasa Turner's Company in the Battle of San Jacinto, for forty one dollars and fifty cents, signed, "A. Brigham," auditor, verso in his script, "Duplicate, given for Draft no. 122 dated January 21st 1836 and lost in the Battle of San Jacinto on the 21st of April 1836 - Affidavit filed in the office. A Brigham, Auditor." 3 3/4" x 7 1/4" Provenance: Estate of Dr. Paul E. Shutts, Houston, Texas.
Condition
Wax seal, some yellowing and toning, creases, minor edge wear, trimmed as expected, and overall in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
