A Chinese carved and painted wood figure of Guanyin Ming dynasty or earlier Depicted sitting in rajalilasana, the ‘posture of royal ease’, atop a flat base wearing a shawl draped over the shoulders and looped over the arms, a scarf tied around the torso, the dhoti tied above the waist falling in graceful folds around the legs, the face carved with a gentle expression below the gathered hair and scrolling crown, with traces of red, green, and blue pigment to garment.H: 17 1/4 in.PROVENANCE:Collection of C.
