One scroll has beautiful calligraphy, and the other shows a possible court or domestic scene, with multiple figures in a building and a tree in the foreground. Featuring carved knobs and decorative border paper. Box is labeled on one side as shown in photos. The calligraphy scroll features a beautiful green peony design on the decorative paper surrounding the calligraphy, and the top and bottom borders of the calligraphy paper is a shiny gold with a dragon design. The scroll showing the scene features a decorative fiber paper with gold and blue accents, possibly from prior embroidery. Condition: Fair Estate Find Condition. The wooden box shows signs of aging but is sturdy and without major damage, only a long crack on the lid. Both scrolls have some browning consistent throughout the paper. Futai (decorative hanging fabric bands) and hanging chord are all intact, with some color fading and cracking. See photos for condition specifics. Calligraphy Scroll-large water stain on the top right and a break in paper with some lifting towards the top of the upper border paper. There is creasing throughout the calligraphy paper and some small area of staining. Scene with Figures Scroll- heavy creasing and some browning throughout the image. The gold pigment has lost some of its shine, but still shines. Some small imperfections in the border paper.
