Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A wonderful ensemble of four cast-bronze pendants with bodies depicting disembodied phalluses. The first is a lobed pubis pendant with a petite phallus projecting outward beneath a perforated suspension hole. The second is a slender phallus with an integral suspension ring below the body. The third pendant is similar to the second but with a stockier body and a fragmentary suspension loop. The largest pendant has a cylindrical body with a phallus projecting from one side and a clenched fist and forearm extending from the other. Size of largest (phallus and fist): 2.25" L (5.7 cm)
Provenance: ex-private H.G. collection, Rhineland-Palatinate, acquired between 1970 and 1999

Condition
Minor chips to body and suspension ring of largest and third-largest pendants. All items have minor abrasions to bodies and phallic elements, with slight bending to overall form of phalluses on some, and light encrustations. Light earthen deposits and great patina throughout.
