Description
WWII German Adolf Hitler Obersalzberg Serving Tray. It is a large 21 ½ x 14 meat platter that was rescued from the Berghof, Hitler’s mountain retreat by an employee who worked in the communications center and befriended the chief cook Arthur Kannenberg. As a stauch vegetarian, Hitler was known to partake is consuming game meats such as Turkey when Reichsmarschall Goering was present. Composed of Alpaca Silver and made by August Wellner Sohne. The tray is numbered 147153. The National Eagle and AH has been emblazoned on the front rim. There is a slight bulge in the center of the tray that is hardly noticeable to the naked eye. There is natural oxidation and discoloration throughout the tray. Very good condition. This lot has a reserve.
