Important Civil War Virginia Confederate Wyant Family Daguerreotype Powder Horn History Lot Civil War history lot consisting of 7 items: 2 daguerreotypes, a set of powder horns, a bayonet, a Virginia Scrivener Rules of Law book and a tin trumpet. Wyant family heirs are from Virginia and retired to central Florida. 1. Civil War Confederate Soldier Wyant Family Virginia Daguerreotype Gutta Percha Gilt Uniform Hat Rifle Sixth Plate Photograph Daguerreotype portrait in Confederate uniform and rifle. Daguerreotype has mold spiders and tarnishing around the edges and is hand colored with gilt accents. Portrait is housed in gutta percha locket with an intricate design on the front and back. The portrait is housed behind glass with gold colored accents and a worn velvet cushion on the other side. Some oxidation on the hinges but case closes beautifully. Case is around 4x3 ½ inches. 2. Inscribed JL Wyant 1858 Powder Horn Pair Virginia Two Carved gunpowder horns inscribed “JL Wyant 1858”. Both horns are tied together with a leather strap. Larger horn is around 9 inches in length and the smaller horn is around 5 inches in length. 3. Wyant Family Gentleman Daguerreotype Hand Colored Ninth Plate Photograph Daguerreotype portrait in beautiful condition with only minor tarnishing and hand colored with a touch of white paint for the shirt. Portrait is housed in an equally beautiful wood case carved with an intricate design on the front and back. The portrait is housed behind glass with gold colored accents and a velvet cushion on the other side. Case is 3x2 ½ inches. 4. Wyant Family Civil War Era Bayonet Virginia Ancestors Steel Civil War era rifle bayonet around 19 inches in full. 5. 1887 Map Hawksbill Creek, Virginia Hand Drawn 6. 1833 Virginia Scrivener Rules of Law With p. 65 Slave Bill of Sale Kenton Harper Staunton, VA Full Leather Inscribed Thos. A Wyant 1833 Virginia Scrivener Rules of Law book outlining certain laws at the time of publishing including a section specifically on bills of sale involving African American slaves. The book has handwriting and calculations scribbled on the first and last few pages and is inscribed as belonging to one Thos. A Wyant. Book is around 8x5 ½ inches. 7. Early Tin Trumpet Horn 23 in Interesting large tin trumpet from the Civil War era. 23 inches in length.
