This lot consists of an ink signature on currency, attributed to the Pop artist Andy Warhol (American, 1928-1987). "Andy Warhol" across the face of this $2 bill. This unframed piece measures approximately 3" x 6.25".

Piece is further accompanied by a certificate which reads as follows:

Andy Warhol (American, 1928-1987) was a leader of contemporary art, which solidified the way that we now visualize the mid-century American era, its faces, and its mass culture. Warhol was a producer, director, printmaker, and illustrator who hailed from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. From his beginnings in the commercial art world, Warhol held a firm grasp of popular image and advertising power. By the time of his death in 1987, Warhol's name would become synonymous with the Banana Factory, Studio 54, Campbell's Tomato Soup, and, most succinctly, Pop Art.
