Chinese Carved Giltwood Architectural Frieze/Diorama, Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), depicting figures in a procession with relief elements against a red ground, with an inscribed cartouche on either side and three decorative finials over a canopy of leaves, the back of the frieze inscribed with a commemorative caption and decorated with orchids and prunus limbs, H.- 24 1/2 in., W.- 46 in., D.- 6 1/2 in. Provenance: Personal collection of Paul Rosenthal, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Condition consistent with age. One finial is loose, while the other two are well glued. The figures have been painted gold on the front, but not on the sides. The figure on the proper left front is missing a foot. There are losses to top of leaves on proper right top. The top front edge has been painted with brown paint. Flower on center finial is loose. There is also a loss to base of proper left finial.
