Description
Ceramic forms 3 vases, ashtray and a pair of candlesticks by Marguerite Wildenhain-Friedlaender (1896-1985) created in the early 1930s for Staatl. Porzellanmanufaktur, Berlin. She was trained as a sculptor in Germany and was with the Bauhaus for six years starting in 1919, she fled Germany during the rise of the Nazis. Arriving in the U.S. she started an arts community in Guerneville, Ca called Pond Farm which would influence ceramic artists for generations. Her work is held in many major museums all over the world, the MoMA being one. Sizes range from 6.75" x 6" to 2.75" x 3.25".
