Description
Original late circa 1933-35 1st Infantry Division painted helmet from the estate of Brigadier General George S. Smith. He served as Aide-de-campe to Major General Frank Parker from 1933-1935 when he was Commanding General of the 1st Infantry Division. The helmet features a painted Big Red One division logo to the front. BG Smith was a Colonel in WWII assigned to the Mediterranean Theater of Operations, and was promoted to Brigadier General in 1945. He was instrumental in the capture of Naples, Rome, and other key Italian cities.
Condition
Shell has some paint loss and rusting; The liner is completely detached and the chinstrap damaged.
