Description
A Fine Large Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Glazed Buddhist Jar. Decorated with various appliqués moulded in the form of various Buddhist motifs and lotus leaves, the larger of the appliqués moulded with vajra (Buddhist sceptre). The cover and outer surface coated in a white slip on top of which is the attractive streaky green glaze that places has a silvery iridescence. The inner surface of the jar coated with a finely-crackled yellowish-green glaze. Although faint, the underside of the cover has traces of Sanskrit-type characters in red pigment.
