Description
"Mercury about to Kill Argus", parian porcelain sculpture, unmarked but possibly by Royal Copenhagen, after an 1818 marble sculpture in the Thorvaldsven museum and mausoleum in Copenhagen, depicting the winged god playing his pan flute to lull Argus to sleep so that he could kill him with his sword, 22 1/2" high, 8" sq. base. Small chip to back left base corner.
