The original, in the V&A, was one of Stubbs' most famous equestrian portraits, of the greatest Thoroughbred Racehorse of the age. Oil on canvas, unsigned, but having a lengthy but illegible note verso (possibly pedigree), housed in a heavy gold gesso frame of the period. OS: 38 1/2" x 46 1/2", SS: 27" x 35". Cleaned and relined, repair at groom's feet. Provenance: From a Damariscotta ME home.
