Description

Sehr seltene „Streichholzschachtelkamera“ mit schwarzem Bakelitgehäuse und äußerer Metallhülle, Aufzugsknopf mit Markierungen bei 180 Grad und einfachem Zeit- und Sofortverschluss. Hergestellt am Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs zur Verwendung durch Mitglieder des Office of Secret Service (OSS) hinter feindlichen Linien.

Provenienz: Christie's South Kensington „Spy, Subminiature and Detective Cameras“, 9. Dezember 1991, Lot 238.

Literatur: Michael Pritchard and Douglas St. Denny, „Spy Camera“, S. 140 (zeigt diese hier angebotene Kamera).

Very rare „matchbox camera“ with black bakelite body and outer metal sleeve, winding knob with markings at 180 degrees and simple Time and Instantaneous shutter. Made at the end of WWII for use by members of the Office of Secret Service (OSS) behind enemy lines.
