Description
Experimental unit to the very first version of the Leicavit, designed and manufactured still before the Second World War - parallel to the SCNOO-C sold at that time. The relevant Leitz drawing number 42296 dates from November 20th 1939. Advance trigger in high polished chrome finish and a different locking mechanism. The internal mechanism with a revolving chain, which results in a different position of the advance trigger lever in the housing. "Leicavit" engraving on the back of the case! With associated experimental unit of a removable cable remote control, which probably represents a one-off. More than 80 years after the construction of this UR Leicavit, a mechanical Leicavit rapid winder to the analog Leica M is still included in the actual Leica Camera Co. product catalogue. Never offered at auction, historically significant!
