Description
Three pieced printed cotton quilts late 19th/early 20th century The first, with signature, "J.A.A. March 1914," comprised of large triangles enclosing a square, heightened with running shell quilting; the second, with pieces arranged in a "T" pattern, heightened with conforming quilting; the third, in a "Picket Fence" pattern; all worked with polychrome printed cotton pieces.76 in. x 76 in.; 58 in. x 62 in.; and 81 in. x 84 in. Condition
the first with signature: clean and vibrant overall, with some minor occasional brown stains; some segments with some discoloration to material; the second quilt with "T" pattern: some areas of minor soiling and staining, with occasional "foxing" like spots scattered throughout, one prominent brown stain located on polka dot "T" segment, some brushing/scuffing to some segments, with signs of wear and use throughout some "T"s with pulling at seams and some tearing/wear to edges; third "fench" pattern quilt: signs of wear to individual pieces throughout, colors remain vibrant overall with some minor fading, some scattered brown stains/areas of staining throughout, some pieces to front with worn edges and tearing, several areas of tearing to back side along seams and along edges (mostly), small patch along border near one corner
