A hand-carved and painted winged figure depicting the Archangel Gabriel blowing his trumpet, a brightly colored rendering with blue pants, a red shirt, yellow wings, and a long yellow trumpet. The figure is mounted upon a green base with “Blow that trumpetGabriel written underneath.Size: 11.5" H (29.2 cm)
Latin America, Mexico, artist Adrian Xuana, San Martin, Oaxaca, ca. mid 20th century CE. Complementing the Archangel Gabriel figure is a pair of hand-carved and brightly painted wooden female angels, one with green and white wings and a yellow dress playing a green, red, white, and black drum, the other with a multicolored floral dress and wings to match, presenting a lit candle in her extended hands. Both attributed to the artist Adrian Xuana from San Martin, Oaxaca, Mexico. (The drumming angel is signed beneath her feet by this artist.) Size: taller angel measures 5.875" H (14.9 cm)
