Southeast Asia, Indonesia, western Irian Jaya, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A lovely gathering of four basketry vessels, each composed of tightly-woven natural plant fibers and some exhibiting hues of red and black. The shortest basket has a tall rectangular body with a form-fitting lid, and dense red-and-black linear motifs course across the walls of the body and lid. Second is a curved betel nut container with a narrow opening and a form-fitting lid of a similarly curved shape. Third is a thin rectangular satchel with three interior cavities, red thread adorning the upper periphery, and a tightly braided strap. The tallest vessel is a multi-lobed jar with a spherical body, a wide wooden foot, and a tiered lid that terminates in a short cylindrical handle. Size of largest (tiered lid): 6" W x 9.75" H (15.2 cm x 24.8 cm).

Minor losses to some base areas of shortest vessel and satchel, with loosening to braided strap threads of satchel. All items have minor loosening to some fibers or threads, and light staining to surface colors. Light earthen deposits throughout.
