Ben Wittick (1845-1903) - Snake Dance Of The Moquis, Aug. 22nd, 1898, Village of Oraibi, Arizona. 8" x 10" silver collodion print. 17.25" x 18" framed. Professionally framed with archival materials. Framed behind glass. Images of the photograph on its supporting board are also shown (unframed). The board has two worn corners. The other two corners only have minor wear. The board also has a darkening to its color, please review the images. Ben Wittick was a pioneer photographer of the American Southwest. This image, along with others in its collection, was a part of his "Views in New Mexico, Arizona, and Old Mexico" and represented life of Pueblo people in the late 19th century. Signature lower left and lower right.
Condition
The photograph itself is in near excellent condition; there is a very minor, tiny scratch to the surface of the photograph in the upper left corner, which can only be seen when tilted at an angle in the right lighting. There is also one small, light brown spot in the upper left corner, right along the edge of the roof of the building in the image. Images of the photograph on its supporting board are also shown (unframed). The board has two worn corners. The other two corners only have minor wear. The board also has a darkening to its color, please review the images.
