Having a nicely formed and shaped case with scalloping and molded crown above two shelves leading to lower case having two drawers over two paneled doors atop a bracket foot. William Strauss Sherer (July 17,1913 Ð October 1,1996) was a native of Sharon, SC, He was a veteran of World War II, serving on a hospital ship, USS Wisteria. He volunteered at Historic Brattonsville, and served on many committees at St. JohnÕs United Methodist Church. Sherer had a passion for building custom furniture for many years in his wood shop. He was self-taught and inspired by early American furniture during his many visits to Williamsburg. Specialty pieces include: Grandfather clocks, highboys, and corner cupboards. All pieces are handmade by him exclusively.
