A Kachina statue of a Native American butterfly maiden. Kachina dolls were used to teach Native American children about the different spirits they believed in. The Butterfly Maiden would represent the rain and life given to plants. Wooden base is marked "Leo Lacapa Jr., Butterfly Maiden" and is detached from the doll. Doll has slightly worn paint but is in good condition. Comes with plastic case. See photos. Case measures 8.25" x 8.25" x 16.125".
