1664 Des. Erasmi Roterodami Colloqui, Erasmus Interview
Des. Erasmi Roterodami Colloqui, Cum Notis Selectis Variorum published in 1664 in Amsterdam
Erasmus of Rotterdam, was educated with the Augustinian priests, studied theology in the Netherlands and in Paris and received his doctorate in Turin in 1506.
He worked as a private preceptor, preparing for his students some pedagogical pamphlets that, over time, became converted into important books of European culture.
In Italy he was a disciple of Lorenzo Valla.
He traveled to England where he was a guest of Tomas More where he wrote the famous Praise of Madness and studied the Greek language.
In Venice he worked with Aldo Manuccio on a composition of proverbs, the Adagia.
He prepared a Greek edition of the New Testament that caused a scandal.
He then made several commented editions of classic texts.
Moving away from Luthers positions, he left Basel in the meantime adept at Protestantism and went to live in Friborg for a few years, where he wrote these Colloquia.
