Notes: From a gum label affixed to the stretcher. "Greco-Roman wrestling came to England from France about 1850. At this period all classes of sport lovers frequented the boxing and wrestling halls.

Visual: A tiny puncture to the canvas left center with a corresponding patch verso. Frame abrasion along the four edges. Light stretcher bar creases along the upper and right edges. The canvas is loose and slightly rippled in the upper corners. A small dent in the canvas with small flecks of paint loss left center. Small flecks of paint loss upper center, left center and lower center. Surface dirt and grime.

Blacklight: Apparently no restoration under blacklight. Difficult to read under uneven varnish.
