Early 20th century, 135 x 64 cm, Western Central Persia, Chahar Mahal region
A completely preserved Bakhtiari double bag. The faces are woven in the sumakh technique in a diamond lattice design while the pile-woven lower finishes show large Memling güls. Bags produced in this format were placed across a horse’s back; camel bags are considerably larger. Willborg has published a comparable khorjin. - Very good condition.
