Description
Ca. 1900, 208 x 123 cm, South West Persia, Fars
Comparatively coarse in weave and knotted on largely brown warps, this rug was made by an Arabi tribal group of the Khamseh nomads. The dark blue field, with a notched outline created by halved stepped polygons placed along the sides and ends, contains a dense repeat of hens and small decorative motifs characteristic of Arabi weavings. – Good condition, original sides, minimally reduced ends.
