Description
AMERICAN FOLK ART SCRIMSHAW CANE / WALKING STICKS, LOT OF TWO, comprising a sailor's knot on a hardwood shaft, and a carved bone handle with clam shell decoration, in flanked by silver-like spacers, one inscribed "L.P. Lyman / Keene, N.H." Mid 19th century. Sailor's Knot 35 1/4" L. Keene 34" L.
Very good overall condition, each with signs of expected usage wear; sailor's knot example lacking ferrule and handle slightly off center from shaft; Keene example with later "1833" written on shaft, minor crack near clam shell.
