Description
This is a very rare fragment of a very old wooden stool from the Kayan Dayak Ethnic group. This remanant of a stool with an ancestral figure as support appears to have weathered outdoor patina, may have served as a grave offering. The stool fragment measures 19 inches tall x 16 inches wide. carved from Ironwood with evidence of Jungle lichen growth. Dayak peoples, Borneo, Kalimantan / Indonesia. ( Verbally authenticated by leading expert in Dayak Arts) Provenance: Daeng Iskandar collection, Indonesia.
Condition
Fair, eroded, what remains is as strong as steel.
